My favourite operator.
The size of the company was drastically reduced in 1971-2. Operations and buses in South West and West Wales being transferred to South Wales Transport and Crosville respectively. Also, new deliveries of buses were moved elsewhere. Bristol REs to SWT, Atlanteans to East Yorkshire and Western National and an order for Fleetlines diverted to London Country. The REs went to SWT to replace AEC Swifts sent to London Country! A batch of ECW bodied REs was split between Jones/Red & White and Bristol. Although the Red & White examples came back when the company was transferred to Western Welsh in January 1978.
In January 1971, the company took full control of Rhondda and had half the spoils from the division of Neath & Cardiff.
During 1971 a new dual purpose livery was adopted, described as "red and National cream" which was similar to that used by SWT. About the same time, the fleetname style on coaches was changed. The company favoured the large white block lettering as used by west country operators, Black & White, Bristol Greyhound, Royal Blue etc.
